CMA Ride for the SON, featured on Shine TV, on their New Zealand current affairs program NZONE Tonight (sky digital channel 111). July 2008 - Paeroa. Another great run as always!! As secretary of CMA NZ and a mother of three kids it is always difficult to participate in the club rides. It was great to join in on the club ride on Sunday, eventhough it was in the car. The day started off wet and pretty cold, but the day turned out to be a beauty. We all met up at the BP Autobahn where some guys was already warming up with a cuppa for the road. It was great to meet up with so many new faces and also to see the commitment from the guys that despite the wet weather they were all keen for a great bike ride. The group was led by Shawn the road captain who took the guys via Miranda Hot Springs. Grant (VP) as tail-end Charlie made sure no one was left behind. Great job guys. As we entered Paeroa we saw Grant pull into a gas station to chat with some Harley Riders, never letting an opportunity go by. We all gathered at the L & P Cafè where we had lunch. We met up with a couple who recently came to NZ from Namibia, who were involved with the CMA for 6 years. It is great to see their passion for the ministry and would like to continue doing that here in NZ. Majority of the guys wanted to make the best of the beautiful weather and have decided to continue further going to Waihi doing Coromandel loop and head back home. I hope to join in on these rides more often. God bless Annalize (CMA Secretary) Gallery June 2008 - Wasp cafe. The day started cloudy & damp, with rain falling as we gathered at the Shell station at Westgate. 14 bikes set off wondering what the day would hold. It turned out great. Sunny with a few cloudy bits as we rode north, toward dairy flat, then a quick cruise down the motorway into Collage Hill to the Wasp Café at Motomail. . The ride was great fun with a great range of bikes & riders. Much interest was shown in Marylyn’s NSR 250 2 stroke, a great wee bike that Marylyn & husband Steve have returned to road use, as the previous owner had been racing it – looks great! Also on show was Bear & Kaye’s 660 motard, Shaun’s Kwaka 750 “quick response vehicle” & Graham’s racing yellow GTR250 Hyosung – all in all a great turn out. The coffee was very welcome once we got to the café. Much chatting and accessory gazing was done over the next 2 hours or so. Once again many a biker came into Motomail, looking for boots & the like, it was great to meet them & share a little of who we are & what we’ve been up to. A great day was had by all, topped off by blue sky’s on the homeward run. Ain’t God good! God bless Grant May 2008 - Cold Duck Rally. What a beautiful country !! You only have to travel down to Hastings to realise how beautiful NZ really is. We experienced the beauty of the forestry as you come in towards Taupo , next the winding gorge as you head out towards Napier and then the Autumn colours of the vinyards of Hastings. Eventhough we got drenched on the way down, the weekend as a whole was an awesome experience. We had the opppurtunity to meet with old friends and make new contacts. A very interesting character who enquired about a year ago about CMA through the website made himself known to us, (great to get to know you Noel). We all joined in on the poker run on Saturday through lovely farmland and lo and behold who wins it? None other than one of our very own (something you want to tell us Dean?) Witnessing was either through words spoken or just our presence at the rally. The misty morning ride home gave way to blue skies and dry roads as the day progressed. Would we do it gain? Yes, but hope for less rain next time! Sunday 4th May 2008 - Rangiriri Pub Lunch. Big thank you to all who came on the Waikato ride. This did show commitment to the ride as the weather was wet and cold but did not deter 13 bikes (and one car) from meeting for this winter run. It was an awesome day of friendship, even with opportunities to share with others in the pub. With us using the wet weather contingency short run, leaves it open for the next fine weather south ride to cover those delightful Waikato roads. Gallery Back to top Sunday 6th April 2008 - Puhoi Pub Lunch. For our first organised ride of the year (February's ride was cancelled due to Run For the Son Charity ride) we had a fantastic turn out. With so many bikes we decided to split into two groups (The crusers & the quiker group). Although the weather forcast was for rain, we had a blue sky & warm temperature. Great day for a ride. We didn't end up arriving at the pub until after 1pm, so there was a wait for 1.5hrs for orders! So some of us went down to the local Store & got lunch from there. There were a few familar faces from previous rides, but a lot of new faces of first timers that we tried to get to know, but with so many if was hard (great to have new riders along though). Gallery Back to top Sunday 6th April 2008 March 8th 2008 Random Event. For a second time we were invited to be part of North West Baptist Random event. These events are designed to bring a carnival feel to the church grounds with bands providing great music through out the evening. The free event, sponsored by community business, provided free food, drink, a relaxed atmosphere and family environment. The entire neighborhood is invited to join in the activities, and many children swarmed to the different activities available, riding the Army Unimog, bouncy castle were a hit with the younger crowd while the informal skateboard comp was relished by the older youth. The bikes provide a talking point and two Christian bikers gave their testimonies from the stage while the bands were setting up. Before arriving at the event the Christian Motorcyclists spend time in prayer in a nearby carpark. This was seen by a non church lady on her way to attend the festivities. She commented to her church friend that she was impressed that the bikers were taking their faith seriously enough to be praying, but with our arrival at the event she realized that we would have been praying for the event, this obviously made an impact on her. This shows that no mater where we are, or what we are doing, we are being watched. Let us continue to shine the light of Jesus in our lives. Gallery Back to top February 24th to March 1st 2008, Inaugural 'Run For The Son' fund rasier. Christian Motorcyclists Association held their inaugural fundraising event, in support of Missionary Ventures and did a 7 day round trip tour of NZ starting 24th February 2008. Here is some press coverage we got before the event: Western Leader North Shore Times Gallery Back to top Sunday 2 December 2007, Okoroire Pub lunch. What a great ride to end the year with! Our Huntly friends called their friends and organized a long winding back roads joyride through Central Waikato. There was 21 bikes with a few pillions swelling the numbers of people, from new riders on 250’s to the stanch Harley Riders and allsorts of other bike types having riding in unity together. We broke into two groups to ensure everyone got a good run. Lovely lunch, albeit a bit of a late, at Okoroire Pub where we had time to make new friends and catch up with old ones. But next time we tackle that lovely route we will need to leave at least an hour earlier, not that it will bother those who loved the longer ride. Well done to the two lead riders, especially for the slower/new riders group who gave good clear signals to road conditions, and ensuring the group did not get too spread out. City of Cycles motorcycle show 2007 October 26–28th saw the City of Cycles motorcycle show take place at the Telstraclear Pacific Events Centre, Manukau city. There was a variety of displays ranging from Harley Davidson, Custom choppers, Sport bikes, Classic Triumphs, Street fighters and even, a special feature for me, was Burt Munroe's Indian displayed next to Black Thunder Kawasaki ZX 1400 - you may decide which one is the quickest. The focus this year was on family, and there were enough activities for all to be entertained e.g.: Dyno shootout, side car speedway, face painting, Tattoo comp, etc. The Redeemed and CMA worked together at a display, serving coffee, handing out tracts and also had a continuous DVD playing. This was a great opportunity to meet other like minded bikers, and the common interest of motorcycling was well served. Also on the Sunday morning The Redeemed were asked to hold a church service (Praise God) and this went down well with the crowd who gathered round. Well done to the organisers, we will definitely be back next year, when I believe the show will be bigger and better. Blessings Michael President We were featured on ShineTV: Sunday 7th October 2007, Kaiaua Lunch The day dawned crisp & clear, it looked glorious - a perfect day for a ride - and it was! We met at the BP autobhann at about 8:45ish 9 bikes in all & 2 cars. At about 9am we were off on a wonderful sunny day with brilliant twistys all the way to Kaiaua. Just before we arrived a lightening bolt, in blue, caught up the mighty Z 14 had arrived!!. We parked up outside the Kaiaua fish & chip shop to meet up with the boys from Huntly, then some prayer before the quick trip around the corner to the church that meets in the community hall. Shaun gave his testimony to many amens and smiles, then I (Grant) gave a brief history of the CMA before Michael gave a most inspired lesson from the Word, to sum it all up Helene brought some thoughts to the church to which there were many more nods of agreement & much disscussion later! After the service the church put on a wonderful lunch - hey it's Kaiaua, lunch there is allways a good thing! We gave the kids (& not a few adults) rides on the bikes out back of the hall & played many a games - toss the tyre seemed very popular. Then there was pick up the water filled milk bottles while lying aross the seat of the Triumph, causing many a laugh to be heard!! Not sure if that was due to the antics of the kids or the sight of Michael & Richard on the Triumpy!! All in all we had an awesome day with an awesome bunch of people, everyone felt very encouraged & very blessed - Don't miss the next one!! God bless - ride free Grant Helene adds What a great time at Kaiaua with the lovely folk at the community fellowship. Ron leads this small group of Christians whom come together from many different church backgrounds, they all have a desire to reach out to their community to share the love of Jesus. Sunday’s visit was to encourage their fellowship but also to provide some entertainment in a safe environment for the local community non church kids. About 8 children aged from 5 to 12 came to enjoy some motorbike based games as well as a few other bit of action – the boys were in their element. It was another time when we lived out our ‘Here when you need us’ motto. Gallery Back to top Sunday 2nd September 2007, Pukekohe Post Classic racing What an awesome weekend. The racing was great as well as the fellowship and the making of new friends and contacts. The feedback I got from the organisers was that of appreciation for our assistance on the day. This is definately an area of great need for all motorcycle events, and an opportunity for us to show that CMA is - 'Here when you need us'. Words from Chris, president of AMCC - "without you guys here - this event could not be a success" Words from Angela (chief marshall) - "great job, team - welldone and many txs for all your hardwork" Also to those who travelled from afar - further than West Auckland, much appreciated and we look forward to when we can work together again. Once again, I would like to thank everyone who came out on the day, and endured the weather, long hours on their feet - your efforts are recognised, may the Lord Bless you for you servant heart. Blessings Michael President Gallery Back to top Sunday 5th August 2007, Rangiriri Pub Lunch The first group of 7 riders meet up at Papakura Autobahn & headed south to Rangiriri Pub to meet up with the second group of 5 riders from Waikato regon. We left the Rangiriri pub at 10:45 and the guys from Huntly led us through some beautiful backroads towards Rotowaro to the Bush railway track, which has steam train rides (Pukemiro Junction), & where we had a coffee break & scones. After the refreshments we headed South east to Taupari & then turned north via the back roads. Along the way we helped a local farmer move cattle!! (that's when you know that you are on backroads!) then resumed our ride to Meremere where we had lunch at the Muddy waters Pub. The roads were mostley dry with only two showers of rain, one just south of Bombay on the way down & the other going home on the southern motorway. Thanks to everyone who came along and made the ride worthwile. Till next month. Gallery Back to top Sunday 15th July 2007, BRONZ Ride Right Ride Safe course The CMA group attended the BRONZ Ride Right Ride Safe Course on 15 July 2007 at the Whenuapai Airbase, from 08:30am till 16:30. The cost of the course for the whole day incl coffee, tea and the roadcode was only $50.00. Bikes attending the course ranged from 250cc Cruisers to 1400cc sport bikes, even a "Trumpie". Although most of the group have in excess of 20 years riding experience, we all learnt something new by the end of the day, whether it be riding skills, safety or hazzard awareness. We recommend this course to all motorcycles irrespective of how many years riding experience you may have or think you know it all, believe me you don't. Thumbs up to the organisers. The only downside to this course for me was that there were no top end runs down the airstrip. For more information check out their website - BRONZ RRRS Gallery Back to top February 2007, CEO CMA USA Visit
CEO of CMA USA,
John Ogden visted NZ briefly as part of his Pacific tour also to other
countries ie: Australia, Fiji , Hawaii , Marshall Islands. It was a
blessing to have him share with CMA NZ in what is happening worldwide
in the CMA ministry. CMA is represented in almost 26 countries. We all
have the same vision and passion to reach out to the Bikers from all
walks of life. An International Rally and Conference is held every year
(alternating between the USA and South Africa - where it will be held
this year) and John Ogden will also be a speaker. CMA USA and Missionary Ventures
have close ties with one another and have been working together to use
the finances supplied by CMA to supply m/cycles, bicycles and even
horses and boats to pastors in foreign countries in order for them to
spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We will
continue to be true to the call and attend all kinds of biker events,
supporting and being available at all times - with the purpose of
sharing the good news.
Gallery Back to top 2006 highlights Saturday 11 November 2006, Random Event Gallery Back to top Saturday 4 November 2006, Waiuku Youth Rock expo 7.59am CMA riders joined up with Redeemed Riders at the Telstra Events Stadium in Manukau, riding out to Richard Pierce Dr, Mangere to unload 20ft container of bibles for the Gideon Ministry. Others were there too so the job was done by 10am and we were having a lovely feed from the Gideon ladies team. Later in the morning appox 16 bikes (12 Harleys and 4 Jappers) attended the Youth Expo at the Waiuku College. This event was opened with a powhiri and continued with live band, various stalls, vertical bungy etc. CMA together with Redeemed Riders put on rides for the kids on motorcycles. Some kids road on the Harleys because they enjoyed the roared of the engines as they rev'ed up, while others preferred the sports bikes because they were faster and they had a need for speed. Although we only road on the school grounds at a safe speed. This was an opportunity to share with the children the reality of Jesus and hand out tracks and bibles. I am sure this was a day that will remain in their memories for a long time. It was also a good opportunity to give back into the community. The four CMA in attendance left the School site around 2.30pm to take a looksee up Manukau Heads, direction returning in time to ride with the Redeemed Riders back to Auckland. A great day of fellowship. Gallery Back to top Saturday 28th October 2006 Taupo Suzuki Track Day The best part of the weekend for me was not only the opportunity to ride to the maximum limit on the track, which i must say was awesome no doubt, but also a weekend which brought us, as a club, closer together as we got to know each other better. The camaraderie was fantastic. It was also good to see that everyone was enjoying themselves on the track and off. As we road on the track with our "colours", this opened opportunities to talk to others who were interested in what CMA was all about. What a privilege to have Andrew Stroud and Craig Shirriffs on the day to show us some race lines; if you could keep up that is. The rain on the return trip on Sunday all the way from Taupo home could not put a damper on the weekend. Glory to God for bringing us safely through the weekend. Gallery Back to top Sunday 14 May 2006 Cold Duck Rally If you are adventurous and love the outdoors, then this rally is for you. Held over the weekend of 12 - 14 May in Hawkes Bay area. At around 08:30 on Friday morning 6 Bikes, 2 from CMA and 4 from African Eagles, left the BP Papakura in very wet conditions. Following SH 1 down to just before Hamilton and then going along the backroads through Gordonton, Cambridge and onto Tirau for breakfast. This time was also used to dry out and defrost as the sun started peering through the clouds. From there onto Taupo, for a fuel stop. Then through to the Rally site just outside of Waipawa, arriving at around 4:30 pm, with some day light left to set up tents and get organized. Friday night live bands entertained the crowds into the early hours of the morning. Saturday morning saw some Rally goers worse for wear from the previous night’s partying. Saturday activities inc: Poker run, Bike games, Burn out comp, Trike madness and much more. The Rally goers were generally well behaved, with everybody intending of having a "good time". Motorcycles were represented from across the range. God has miraculously opened doors at this rally. Rally rules state "No Patches", but we were allowed to wear our colours and there were no objections. So even by this means we were able to witness. Sunday morning was an early pack up for the trip home. The roads allowed for all sorts of riding styles: twistys, long straights etc and enjoying all kinds of scenerary, from the vineyards of Napier/Hastings to the mountainous gorges near Taupo, & straights through Forests - absolutely awesome!! "Always share your Testimony, and when necessary use words" See ya all at the Cold Kiwi Rally, September 2006. Gallery Back to top Sunday 16 April 2006 On Easter Sunday 4 bikes (7 people) from the CMA, were invited to join a ride with Redeemed Riders, Seed of Abraham and Christian Riders. For a ride to a Makatu (eastern Bay of Plenty) church, for a service at 1pm, to show support for the family of a 'Christian Riders' member who was buried one year ago. There was 1 car & 11 bikes (several with pillions) that set off from Auckland and we picked up another one in Tauranga and a few more at Paengaroa before converging on Makatu. Bikes varied from Custom Harley cruisers to a GSXR sport, and multiple. Different churches represented but all believers passionate about bikes and showing the Love of Jesus and sharing the gospel. There was about 18 of us at the church with the locals. We had a fish n chips on the beach, and a awesome time of prayer, in unity, before returning to Auckland by night fall. Met new friends and joined with like minded people whom we may never have had the opportunity to meet otherwise. This felt like a beginning of something God wants us all to be involved in. We are now in correspondence with these other Christian riders to coordinate other ministry opportunities. Gallery Back to top |
